Priest Talents Updated for Patch 5.4

This area lists the current priest talents as of the 5.4 patch.The talent system has been completely redone and below are the new talents available for priests. Every 15 levels you have access to new talent tier. At level 90 you will have access to all 6 tiers of talent and will be able to select one talent to use for your mage from each tier.

    Tier 1 Talents
    Casting this will root up to up 5 mobs within 8 yards for 20 seconds. Killing the tendrils cancels the effect. I recommend this as the best talent available.

    Summons a Psyfiend that stands in place for 10 sec. The Psyfiend casts a Psychic Terror on a nearby enemy within 20 yards every 2 sec, preferring anything attacking the Priest.
    Psychic Terror causes enemies to flee for 30 sec. Damage caused may interrupt the effect.

    Instant, 4% of base mana, 45 second cooldown, 25 yard range, limited to 5 targets

    Controls a mind up to level 4 for 30 sec. Does not work versus Mechanical beings. Mind control. Situational spell.
    2% of Base Mana, 1.8 second cast time (30 second channeled spell)
    Tier 2 Talents

    Passive ability added to Power Word: Shield and Leap of faith. What this does is any time you cast either of them they have 60% increase in movement speed for 4 seconds.

    Casting this allows you to place up to 3 feathers on the ground that when moved over increases your movement speed 80% for 6 seconds. You can new feathers at a rate of 1 every 10 seconds. Is the talent of choice in most cases for this tier for PVE. Feathers stay on the ground for 10 minutes.
    This talent causes your Fade spell to remove all movement-impairing effects and unslowable for 5 seconds. This is a PVP talent.
    Tier 3 Talents

    Discipline, Holy: Surge of Light - You have a 15% chance when you Smite or cast a healing spell to cause your next Flash Heal to be instant cast and have no mana cost. Limit 2 charges.
    Shadow: Surge of Darkness - Periodic damage from your Vampiric Touch has a 20% chance to cause your next Mind Spike to not consume your damage-over-time effects, become instant cast, cost no mana, and deal 50% additional damage. Limit 2 charges.

    This spell replaces shadowfiend with a creature that give the caster 1.75% mana when it attacks and the creature is up for 15 seconds. This spell has a 1 minute cooldown. This spell provides good mana generation without interrupting rotation. This is a high burst ability so usually is considered more of a PVP talent.

    You gain the Power Word: Solace ability.

    Shadow: Your Devouring Plague increases the damage of Mind Flay by 33% per orb consumed.


    Power Word: Solace
    Strike an enemy with the power of the heavens, dealing 1072 to 1201 (+ 111% of SpellPower) Holy damage and an additional 399 (+ 3.12% of SpellPower) Holy damage over 7 sec and restoring 1% of maximum mana.

    Damage dealt by Power Word: Solace will instantly heal a nearby low health friendly target within 40 yards from the enemy target for 100% of the damage dealt (50% when healing the Priest). Replaces Holy Fire.

    30 yd range, instant, 10 second cooldown
    Tier 4 Talents
    This is an instant cast self heal that heals you for 30% of your maximum health; it has a 2 minute cooldown. This is a very good self heal talent and can come in handy in many PVE.
    This spell allows you to vanish and leave a shadow of yourself behind but you can still attack, your shadow lasts for 6 seconds, or until you receive 3 direct attacks. I consider this to be the best PVP talent in most cases.
    Anytime a damaging attack brings you below 30% health, you gain an absorption shield equal to 20% of your total health lasting for 20 sec(90 second cooldown). I consider this talent to be best of the three talents for PVE as it is a passive shield that can kick in automaticlly when you need it most. This spell can no longer be dispelled.
    Tier 5 Talents
    Each time you damage or heal a target that is below 35% health, your deal 15% more damage and healing for 10 seconds. This is a great talent if you are atumenent healing or if it is an encounter with a lot of damage.
    Infuses the Priest with power, increasing spell casting speed by 20%, all damage by 5%, and reducing the mana cost of all spells by 20%. Lasts 20 seconds.
    This talent grants you a 100% chance whenever you cast Penance, that your next Power Word: Shield will ignore and not cause the Weakened Soul effect.
    Tier 6 Talents
    This spell launches a Holy bolt at the target that grows in power as it travels, which causes up to 10,108 + 97.5% SP damage to a mob, or up to 10,108 + 97.5% SP healing to an ally. This effect can bounce from ally to ally, or from enemy to enemy. Each time a bolt hits a target it splits into 2 bolts and finds new targets(it never will hit the same target twice and prefers targets that are far away) and can do this up to 4 times. This talent is best for encounters where the raid is spread out.
    This spell casts a star move forward in front of you 24 yds and then come back along the same path. This star causes 3,370 + 32.5% SP damage or healing(depending on if they are friend or foe) to targets within 6 yards of it. This is a good talent if your raid or mobs will be in a line.
    This spell creates a ring of Holy energy around you that quickly expands and grows in power, up to 30 yds away. Deals up to 15163 to 25270 + 195% SP damage to enemies and up to 25k to 42k + 325% of SP healing to allies. This is a good spell if your raid is packed tightly. This will not hit enemies that are in stealth.
